Today was a FABULOUSLY busy day! We began the day listening to Show and Tell from three of our friends. It was so much fun to see what everyone decided to bring. Evan had an announcement for a musical concert that he and his sister are having. He designed the announcement and invited us all. Henry brought his favorite cleaning supplies which he showed us how to use. Jack brought his toy taxi with green wheels. Each child was so proud of the special thing they brought to show and tell their friends about. I can't wait to see what everyone brings tomorrow!
Our theme for the week is families. After we talked about how many people each of us had in our families, we made a graph to hang in the classroom. We read I Love My Family by Lila Pakinga. As each child talked about the people in their families, other children were asking questions and commenting. Reid said "I like the beach" when he saw a picture of a family at the beach. The mini-conversations they were having with each other was wonderful! During art, we all made pictures of our families.
New to our schedule today was Moving with Ms. Michelle. We went outside with our new friend Ms. Michelle for some sensory movement activities. She brought weighted balls to pass around, tunnels to climb through, and a parachute to wave up and down. It was great! Gianni wasn't sure that he wanted to go through the long tunnel, but after some words of encouragement, he tried it, and LOVED it. I think he went through more times than anyone. Susannah decided that she would make a better helper, and held the tunnel for the boys to go through. The kids loved all the sensory input they were getting, but Ms. Tiffany and I loved all the language concepts that were incorporated. Prepositions, colors, matching, positional words, sharing, turn taking.....WOW! They had so much fun, they all wanted to know if we would see Ms. Michelle again tomorrow. I'll post some pictures later so you can see some of the awesome things that we did today!
